In 1982, Bashir Ahmad and his son Muhammad Aslam arrived from Faisalabad with one conviction most food businesses never keep: make it the right way, every single time, and people will notice. They settled at 3–5 Whalley Range, Blackburn and opened the doors. The first samosa was hand-folded. The chutney was mixed from scratch. Nothing about that has changed in over forty years. Not the recipe. Not the method. Not the commitment.

Today, Manchester Sweet Centre is where Blackburn marks Eid morning. Where weddings begin with a call about the samosa order.
